MOSCOW, Jun 13 (PRIME) -- Czech anti-virus software maker Avast will terminate work of its virtual private network (VPN) in Russia because it will not follow requirements of the local communications watchdog and cut access to blocked resources, the company said on Thursday.
“We understand that we’ll infringe own principles and won’t bring any benefit to users by ceding to the communications service. This is why Avast will not obey orders of the communications service on censure, which means it will not provide Avast SecureLine VPN in Russia anymore,” the company said.
The watchdog earlier asked Avast and other VPN providers, working on the local market, to cooperate in limiting access to the Internet resources put on the register of banned information.
